NFL Week 12 Free Pick: Vikings vs. Redskins

MINNEAPOLIS - NOVEMBER 21: Quarterback Brett Favre of the Minnesota Vikings looks for an open receiver while playing the Green Bay Packers at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome on November 21, 2010 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. (Photo by Matthew Stockman/Getty Images)

The Minnesota Vikings have been a disaster this year but head coach Brad Childress has been fired and there’s growing sediment that Brett Favre and Co. may turn things around.

In their first Childress-less test of the season, the Vikes will travel to Landover to take on a Washington Redskins team that beat the Titans last Sunday in Tennessee and is hoping to keep pace in the NFC East.

Oddsmakers have made the Redskins a 1-point favorite over the Vikings in Week 12. Minnesota is 5-1 against the spread in its last six games in Week 12, while the Redskins are just 5-13-1 ATS in their last 19 home games. They’re also 5-18-3 ATS versus a team with a losing record.

Black Friday College Football Free Pick: Auburn vs. Alabama

TUSCALOOSA, AL - OCTOBER 16: Quarterback Greg McElroy of the Alabama Crimson Tide hands the ball off to Mark Ingram against the Ole Miss Rebels at Bryant-Denny Stadium on October 16, 2010 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. (Photo by Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images)

You have a team that is quietly starting to come together as the youth is starting to turn into some leadership characteristics. Both teams virtually had a bye week last week, as Alabama rolled Georgia St, while Auburn was preparing for what could be their biggest Iron Bowl ever.

What makes anyone think Alabama can derail Cam Newton?? There is not a better coach in America than Nick Saban in terms of taking out one player in a game. Saban is a mastermind at taking a key player and turning him into an average player, so Cam will not be Superman in Tuscaloosa.

Ask Ryan Mallet over his career or Tyrod Taylor last year; Thunder and Lightning two years ago in the Georgia Dome where they were held to 20 yards total rushing. Alabama has won the last two Iron Bowls and are winners of 18 straight home games. This might possibly be the loudest this stadium has ever been with 100k plus and the most to play for since the expansion.

Alabama can still get a BCS at large bid, but this game means much more than that at this time. Alabama shouldn’t have issues moving the ball running with Mark Ingram and Trent Richardson to open up the pass for Julio Jones, who could have a monster game against a horrid secondary (one that Green torched, Jeffrey torched, Childs and Adams torched, etc.)

If Auburn gets behind early like they have all season and faced adversity, there will not be any coming back in Tuscaloosa. Bama could race to a lead and never look back as the Tigers and their 100th ranked pass defense finally get snake bit. Look for Bama to put up 28 + and Auburn to be held to one of their lowest point totals of the season as Bama wins this game by double digits.

College Football Free Pick: Texas A&M vs. Texas

LINCOLN, NE - OCTOBER 16: Quarterback Garrett Gilbert of the Texas Longhorns runs toward his teammates ofter the final of their game against the Nebraska Cornhuskers at Memorial Stadium on October 16, 2010 in Lincoln, Nebraska. Texas Defeated Nebraska 20-13. (Photo by Eric Francis/Getty Images)

Who would of thought roles would be reversed and the Longhorns would be underdogs at home on Turkey day?

The Aggies were successful last week in the second half against the Huskers and now it’s time to go against them. Ryan Tannehill has been their spark in reeling off 5 straight wins, but this Longhorn team looked focused last week and still want to salvage their season. You have to love that at halftime during the FAU game, Mack Brown said “we will play one half at a time with scores 0-0″ and he proved it in a dominatating win against lowly FAU. Now this team has one big task and that is to derail the Aggies season.

Longhorn defense is what will keep them in this game. They boast a top-10 defense, allowing under 300 yards a game and Garrett Gilbert will go against a horrid ranked A&M secondary, which ranks 97th in the country and will allow the Horns to move the ball. Look for the Horns to come into Turkey day and shock the AGGIES!
