Harvard’s “Hasty Pudding Theatricals,” the oldest college drama group in the United States, has selected Jay Leno as its “Man of the Year”. Clearly this is a snub to alumnus Conan Christopher O’Brien whose legacy at the Ivy League institution (Mather House resident, Lampoon president, inventor of a primitive precursor to Facemash -the precursor to Facebook- utilizing no computers and 5000 Uno decks) is somewhat legendary.

Leno was replaced on “The Tonight Show” by Conan O’Brien in June 2009, only to return to the show in March 2010 after months of bitter contract disputes between O’Brien and NBC.

The Man and Woman of the Year awards are presented annually to performers who have made a lasting contribution to the world of entertainment. Past winners of the Man or Woman of the year include Johnny Carson & Meryl Streep. This year’s Woman of the Year is actress Julianne Moore.

The Hasty Pudding Theatricals troupe has staged a student-written comedy revue each year since 1844 with the exception of during the World Wars.
