Topless coffee shop opens in Maine

This is the kind of news you love to hear.

It’s a tough time for businesses, but one entrepreneur may have found the recipe for success.

On Monday, Donald Crabtree opened Grand View Topless Coffee Shop in Vassalboro, Maine, where the waiters and waitresses serve their customers topless.

In a town with fewer than 4,500 residents, the topless coffee shop is booming with business. Paul Crabtree, the owner’s brother, describes business so far as “fantastic.”

“It’s just been crowds mobbing in,” he said.

Donald Crabtree faced initial opposition to his plan, but he won the right to go ahead in a planning board hearing last week. Many local residents were irate over the idea of combining coffee and nudity. Crabtree, however, saw a profitable business venture.

“I know what people want,” he said. “People like nudity, and coffee is profitable. Sure, I’d start a coffee shop, but I’d be out of work in a week.”

The flood of job applications — more than 150 — for Grand View Topless Coffee Shop reflected the rough job market.

We included a photo of a beautiful Bullz-Eye model instead of the photo from the article because CNN posted a pic of a dude. Naturally, a topless female wouldn’t have worked for trusty CNN. The ladies can click over the their visual. Hopefully we’ll get some sneak videos from this place posted on the web to see how nice the topless waitresses look.

It’s nice to see that American Puritanism isn’t ruling all parts of the country. Perhaps we’re loosening up a bit after the Bible thumpers were thrown out of office.

Tom Brady and Giselle Bundchen get married

So, Tom Brady and Giselle Bundchen finally tie the knot.

It’s official!

Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady wed today at the St. Monica Catholic Church in Santa Monica, Calif., Usmagazine.com confirms.

The bride, 28, donned a form-fitting ivory lace strapless gown with a trumpet skirt, scalloped edges, long train and a floor-length veil with attached handmade satin roses and attached satin headband, all by Dolce & Gabbana. Her three dogs also wore matching Dolce & Gabbana floral lace collars.

Dolce & Gabbana most recently dressed Fergie for her January nuptials to Josh Duhamel.

Now, I know she’s gorgeous, but she brought her THREE DOGS to the wedding and dressed them in Dolce & Gabbana?!? That’s just pathetic.

Gwyneth Paltrow wants to be Martha Stewart

Gwyneth Paltrow is starting a web site for women, and she SWEARS she’s not trying to be the next Martha Stewart.

Gwyneth Paltrow doesn’t get all the sniping swirling around her holistic lifestyle website, Goop.
“I’m not trying to be the next Martha (Stewart),” Paltrow said Wednesday night at a benefit she hosted for Bent on Learning, a non-profit organization that puts one of Paltrow’s favorite wellness activities, yoga, into New York public schools.

Emulating one of America’s biggest homemaking gurus is “not what I set out to do. I love to cook and I love to eat and I love bringing people together through food, but I think it’s a different thing. I’m doing a cookbook (due out September 2010) but I have no intention right now of” assuming Martha’s mantle — or Oprah’s or any other one-named superstar of saintliness.

“I feel like I have a lot of good information that women want to know and I want to share, and people can read it or not read it,” Paltrow said. Though most of women who respond to it are “so lovely and grateful,” she laughs that “I didn’t know that it would create such a brouhaha” within the broader blogosphere.

Sounds really convincing – right? Just admit it. Is that so hard?

Hef parts with feminazis

As Playboy celebrates it’s 55th anniversary this year, the company is struggling like many other media companies. Hugh Hefner, however, is doing just fine. He recently answered some questions in Time.

Your industry is often accused of being damaging to women, yet you assert that you are an active feminist. Could you clarify this position?

My industry is magazine publishing. Pornography? That isn’t my industry. If you call sexual images pornography, then they are negative. If you call those same images erotic, they are positive. I’m not an active feminist. I’m an active humanist. I separated ways from feminism when it became antisexual. I believe embracing sexuality is part of what it means to be free.
